About Holashtak
Holashtak counts the eight days up to the fire of Holika, from the eighth day of the bright half of Phalguna to the full moon. Many families in north India and Nepal avoid weddings, engagements and house-warmings in it, and some use it for quiet prayer. The days end with Holi, and the Meena Kharmas follows soon after. The dates follow the lunar calendar.
