About Magh and Phalgun wedding window
When Kharmas ends at Makar Sankranti, around 14 January, weddings begin again, and the months of Magh and Phalgun carry many of the year's best dates. Vasant Panchami in late January or early February is treated as an especially clean day for beginnings. The run ends in mid-March when the sun moves into Pisces and the Meena Kharmas starts, and in many families the date of the wedding is also steered around exams and the harvest. The dates are fixed by the panchang, so the window is a guide, not a calendar.
