The Parsi welcome at the door, in which a mother waves a tray of coconut, rice and rose water over the couple.
Also: achumichu, achu-michhu
Achu michu is the greeting of a Parsi groom or bride when they arrive at the wedding. The mother, or an older married woman of the family, waves a tray holding a coconut, a raw egg, betel leaf, rice and rose water around the head of the arrival and cracks the egg and the coconut to remove ill luck. A red mark is made on the forehead, a garland put on, and a small amount of rice and rose water showered. The couple then enter. The name is a Gujarati expression, spelled in several ways.
