Claddagh ring
An Irish ring of two hands holding a crowned heart, used as a token of love, friendship or marriage.
Also: Claddagh
The Claddagh ring takes its name from a fishing village by Galway city. It shows two hands holding a heart with a crown, meaning love, friendship and loyalty. A common way of wearing it is that on the right hand with the heart facing outwards means a person is free, facing inwards means in a relationship, and on the left hand with the heart inward means married, though this is a modern convention and not a fixed rule. Some Irish couples use it as an engagement or wedding ring.
