Kelin salom
The Uzbek ceremony in which the new bride bows to each of her husband's relatives.
Also: kelin salam, bride greeting
Kelin salom, the bride's greeting, is an Uzbek custom in which the new bride, dressed in her wedding clothes, stands before the groom's family and bows to each relative in turn, to the sound of a song. Each relative blesses her and gives her a gift of money or a small present. The rite introduces the bride to her new household and shows her respect for it. It is usually held on the day after the wedding or at the wedding feast.
