The khoncha, written xonça in Azerbaijani, is a large tray piled with sweets, fruit, henna, cloth and gifts, decorated with ribbons and candles, and carried in a procession between the families. A khoncha is sent from the groom's house to the bride's before the wedding and at the henna night, and the bride's family returns one. The decorations differ by region, and the tray is displayed to the guests.
