Also: khosk-kap, khoskap, khosk-arnel, word binding
Khosk kap, meaning word binding, is the traditional Armenian engagement. The groom's family visits the bride's home, and the parents and elders give their word to the match, after which a meal is eaten, gifts of jewellery are given and the date set. The detail varies by region, and the word is spelled in several ways in English. Today the custom survives in the form of a family meeting before the engagement party.
