Kolacz
A round, braided or decorated wedding bread of Poland and Slavic lands.
Also: kolach, kolacz weselny
Kolacz, or kolach, is a ring-shaped or round bread or cake made for weddings in Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia and the Czech lands. The name comes from the Slavic word for wheel or circle. In some villages it is baked by the women of the bride's family, decorated with dough ornaments, and carried to the wedding house. It is sometimes broken and shared among the guests. The word also names other festive breads in Slavic regions, so its exact form depends on the place.
