Also: bride dance (Hungarian), menyasszony tanc
Menyasszonytanc is the Hungarian bride's dance. At midnight the bride, who has been wearing a veil all day, is led out to dance, and the guests pay a sum of money for a turn with her, putting the notes in a bowl or a pot, often held by the best man. The money goes to the couple as a start for their married life. It is followed by the removal of the veil and the entry of the bride into the dance as a married woman, and then dancing continues into the night. Details differ between regions and families.
