Swedish wedding customs
Swedish weddings, known for a toastmaster, many songs, kissing games and a coin in the bride's shoe.
Also: svenskt bröllop
A Swedish wedding often has a toastmaster, toastmadame, or both, who run the speeches, songs and games, and guests who wish to speak must give notice. Guests may kiss the bride or groom when the other leaves the room, and guests sing songs with new words written for the couple. A custom reported is that the bride's father puts a silver coin in her right shoe and her mother a gold one in her left, for a future without want. Not every couple follows each of these, and many Swedes now marry in a civil ceremony or a Church of Sweden one.
