Umabo
The Zulu wedding stage in which the bride's family brings gifts to the groom's family and the bride is welcomed.
Also: umabo (Zulu)
Umabo is the part of a Zulu wedding when the bride and her family travel to the groom's home with gifts for his relatives, such as mats, blankets and household items, and she is formally introduced to her new family. The bride may wear traditional dress with beadwork and a headpiece. The groom's family often slaughters a cow or goat to welcome the guests. It comes after umembeso, and together they show the exchange of respect between the families.
