Ramadan
The month of fasting: the wedding feast is put off until after Eid, since days are for the fast and nights for prayer.
When is Ramadan in 2027?
Ramadan 2027 runs from 8 February to 9 March 2027. The date follows the moon or a local calendar, so it can move by a day. Other years: 2026, 18 February to 19 March 2026; 2028, 28 January to 26 February 2028.
About Ramadan
Islamic law does not forbid a marriage in Ramadan, and a nikah can be signed in it, but few families hold a wedding feast in the month. The days are a fast, the nights are for prayer and meals, and the music and dancing of a wedding do not fit the month. Wedding halls in Cairo, Karachi and Jakarta are quiet and the weeks after Eid al-Fitr are among the busiest of the year. The month begins with the sighting of the moon, so the date can differ by a day by country.
