Cinta pull
A cake custom in Peru and elsewhere in Latin America in which unmarried women pull ribbons from the cake.
Also: cintas, ribbon pull, tira de cintas
In Peru, and in similar forms in Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, the wedding cake is set with ribbons or silver charms that lead to the inside, with one for each unmarried woman in the party. At the cutting, the women pull their ribbons together, and the one who draws out a ring, or the charm marked, is said to be next to marry. It is a game like the bouquet toss, and may take place with the cake in the middle of the party, with music and shouts. Other charms may give a trip or a baby.
