Also: düğün, dugun, Turkish wedding
Dugun is the Turkish word for a wedding celebration and usually refers to the party, as distinct from the legal marriage, nikah, made at a registry office. It is held in a hall or in the open, with a band or a davul and zurna drum and pipe, and guests dance the halay in a line. A key moment is the pinning of gold coins, jewellery or banknotes on the couple's clothes by the guests, called takı. In the villages the feast can last more than a day. The word is also used in Kurdish and Azerbaijani, in a similar form.
