First dance
The first dance of the couple at their reception, with guests joining afterwards.
Also: bridal waltz, wedding dance
The first dance is the dance the newlyweds share at the start of the party, in front of the guests, in a style of their choice, from a waltz to a choreographed number. In many countries it is followed by a dance with the parents, then with the wedding party, and finally with the whole room. In Mexico and Latin America, the waltz is common, in Hungary the bride dance continues, and in India the sangeet may include rehearsed dances. Couples often choose a song with meaning, and some take dance lessons.
