A hen party, also hen night or hen do, is a party given for a bride-to-be by her friends and sometimes female relatives, in the weeks before the wedding. In Britain and Ireland it is typically a night out or a weekend away, with matching outfits, games and sashes, and the same event is called a bachelorette party in North America. Spellings and details change with the group, and some brides prefer a quiet afternoon tea. It is the female counterpart of the stag party.
