Tsunokakushi
The white hood or hat of a Japanese bride that, by one account, hides her horns.
Also: horn hider, wataboshi
The tsunokakushi is a white band or hood worn on the bride's head, with a traditional wedding kimono, and the wataboshi a more rounded hat of silk. The tsunokakushi's name means horn hider, and one explanation is that it hides the bride's jealousy, another that it shows her intention to be gentle and obedient. Other explanations put it as a covering of modesty. The explanation depends on the source, and both items are worn in the Shinto wedding.
