Hanbok
The traditional Korean dress, worn by couples and the two mothers at the wedding.
Also: joseon-ot, Korean traditional dress
Hanbok is the traditional clothing of Korea: a short jacket, jeogori, and a full skirt, chima, for women, and a jacket and loose trousers, baji, for men. At a wedding the two mothers wear hanbok in colours coordinated, often pink and blue, and the couple wear one for the pyebaek, the family greeting. The bride's ceremonial dress, hwarot, has bright embroidery. Today most Korean couples marry in a Western wedding dress and suit at a wedding hall and put on hanbok for the pyebaek.
