Also: leylat al-henna, laylat al-henna, laylat al-hinna, hina, kina gecesi
Henna night, laylat al-henna in Arabic, is a women's party held a day or more before a wedding in much of the Middle East and North Africa. The bride, in a dress of green or red, has henna drawn on her hands and feet while relatives and friends sing, drum and dance, and the groom's family may send henna and sweets. In Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Yemen, Jordan and the Gulf, the details and songs differ. The transliteration varies: leylat al-henna, laylat al-hinna, or simply hina. It is called kina gecesi in Turkish.
