Wedding cord
A loop of rosary beads or cord laid around the couple's shoulders in a Mexican and Latin American Catholic wedding.
Also: lazo de boda, wedding lasso
The lazo is a large loop of rosary beads, flowers or a cord that sponsors place in a figure of eight around the shoulders of the couple during the ceremony, in Mexico, the Philippines, Spain and much of Latin America. It shows that the two are joined, and sometimes the veil is pinned over the groom's shoulder too. It is often given by the padrinos, and may be kept in a family. The lazo is usually placed after the vows, near the time of the arras.
