Mexican wedding
A Mexican wedding with padrinos, arras and lazo in church, and a dollar dance, mariachi and a long party after.
Also: boda mexicana, dollar dance
A Mexican wedding often has a civil ceremony, required by law, and then a Catholic wedding mass, with padrinos who sponsor parts of the day, arras given by the groom and a lazo placed around the couple. Afterwards there is a long party, with mariachi or a band, a first waltz, and the dollar dance, in which guests pin money to the bride's dress or give it as they dance. Many couples hold a hora loca, a loud dance with costumes, late in the party. Customs differ by region and between Indigenous communities and cities.
