Wedding traditions of Crete
Cretan weddings are village feasts with lyra music, raki and roast lamb.
In villages in Crete a wedding is a community event. The lyra and the laouto play and the pentozali, a fast dance, is danced by the men and women of the village.

The wedding feast includes roast goat or lamb, rice and raki. A traditional procession may bring the groom to the bride's home with music.
Customs
Some families hold to the custom of making the wedding bed, in which children are placed on it to bring fertility. The old customs are now more often performed as folk culture than as everyday practice.
